Situated in the heart of South Beach, The Temple House is one of the most iconic Art Deco properties in the Eastern U.S. Designed by internationally recognized L. Murray Dixon, one of the most prominent and prolific Art Deco architects, Dixon (1901-1949) was responsible for designing such important properties as The Tides, The Victor, The Raleigh, The Marlins, The Regent, The Tudor, The Senator and The Ritz Plaza Hotels.
In addition to serving as the backdrop for multiple TV shows and feature films, the façade of Temple House is routinely photographed by visitors of this important structure. The Temple House has served a pivotal role in events and productions for locals and celebrities alike and has been seen over 800 million times in various films, photo and video productions. It has received international coverage including The New York Times, HGTV, The Sunday Times in Europe, VIP Guide, CBS, Christies Great Estates, Luxury Real Estate and International Herald Tribune. The Temple House is also the main venue for One Direction's “Best Song Ever” music video.
The Temple House can accommodate from 1 – 500 guests, and is fully equipped with a full commercial catering kitchen, audio visual equipment, and a full array of furniture and décor rentals. The Temple House can accommodate vehicles inside the space, and rents custom fit ramps to get the vehicle(s) inside.
The Temple House is fully ADA accessible and compliant with all commercial permits.
THE HISTORY
In 1942 The Temple House was expanded and re-zoned for The Joseph-Jacob Congregation, which was subsequently renamed Temple Emanuel and eventually moved to its new location in 1965. At that point, through the efforts of architect Lester Avery, the Temple House expanded its facility to 16,350-foot (4,980 m) to accommodate the 1,000 member Orthodox members under the name Knesseth Israel.
In early 2003, The Temple House was purchased by the present owner, Daniel Davidson, to begin the renovation of the largest single family residence in South Beach. In March 2003, Davidson bought the property and began an extensive renovation in which all architectural features of the building were preserved while still allowing the installation of completely new electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning systems (50 tons). It is now the largest single family residence in Miami's South Beach.
DANIEL DAVIDSON, FOUNDER/CEO
Daniel Davidson graduated with a degree in genetics from the University of California Berkeley. Before making his way to Miami, Dan founded the largest prenatal genetic testing facility in the Unites States, the largest driver training educational system with more than 220 schools around the country, and then multiple companies in tech, skincare, and news gathering.
In 2003, he made his way to Miami Beach, where he acquired the 70-year old historic Art Deco synagogue and transformed it into his residence for many years. After years of requests to do events, he renovated the space into a full service event venue, which is now The Temple House. Fast forward to 2018, Dan has left his mark in the luxury venue global space, and now operates one of the most celebrated private event venues in The United States.
Dan recently oversaw the design and installation one of the most elaborate and extraordinary 360-degree permanent projection systems in a private venue. With this installation founded United Projection, which is a leading team of industry professionals and award-winning visual artists to help execute events at The Temple House and around the world. He also founded the Visual Artist Awards, which is an organization, dedicated to lead the industry in recognizing pioneers and leaders in the field of projection mapping, motion graphics, and augmented reality.
